This temple is at Perumilly in
Elamkunnapuzha of the Vypeen Islands in Ernakulam district. 600 years ago,
members of the Araya community got an idol from the sea while fishing. They
kept it in a hut and offered worship. Later it was transferred to a platform
with six sides. Astrological consultations revealed that it was the idol of
Goddess Balabhadra. Now the Goddess is consecrated here in a square sanctum.
The Kerala-style temple has a chuttambalam and namaskara mandapam as well as
the flag post. The roof of the sanctum is decorated with beautiful sculptures. The
temple is managed by the Araya community
