This temple is at Kavanadu in Kollam district. It is believed that it was consecrated 1400 years ago. The area around the temple belonged to it. This continued to be so till the government took over the land under land reform rules. Goddess Durga and Goddess Bhadrakali are consecrated together with equal importance in worship. In earlier times, martial arts were taught at this temple which led to it being referred to as the Kalari temple. The temple belongs to a family and during the times when temple entry was restricted to higher castes alone, this temple was a haven for all people. In those days
more pooja was conducted only once in a month for which the local people also came to attend.
