This ancient temple is at Narikavally, on Pilathara Mathamangalam route in Kannur District situated in a locality rich in natural beauty. It is believed to be 1200 years old. Legend says it was given as a gift to 82 families of the 237 Sagara Brahmana families brought to Kolathu Nadu by Udaya Varman, King of Kolathiri in AD793. The original consecration was Poovathumoottil Amma. Then Durga Devi in the gentle form was consecrated facing the east. The goddess is worshipped in the three forms of Sandana Durga, Mahalakshmi and Maha Saraswathy as well as Bhadrakali. Kaliyattam is conducted every three years. More than 25 Theyyams participate in
more it. The temple is under the Malabar Devaswom Board and the Sree Bhadrapuram Development Society which started functioning in 2011, has been active in the management as well as the renovation and construction of the temple.
