This temple near Vaikom is
believed to be more than a hundred years old. The main deity consecrated here
is Goddess Durga. In the beginning, there were two powers contained in one idol
– Annapoorneswari facing the east and Bhadrakali facing the north. When the
temple was renovated, only Goddess Durga was retained facing the north. The
subordinate deities are Nagas, Ganapathy, Shastha, Vanadurga, Muthappan,
Bhadrakali Arukola, Vasorimala and Khandaakarnan. Padmanabha Kanteri of Vaikom has been
contained in the consecration as Muthappan. The annual festival is in the month
of Kumbham. The temple got wide attention among devotees after the Gajamela
with 100 elephants in 2003.
