Thayankavu Sastha Temple, located in Choondal, Thrissur district, Kerala, is one of the few temples where Lord Ayyappa is enshrined along with his wife and son. A unique feature of this temple is that the komaram (oracle) does not wear the traditional Chilambu (ankle ornament) or Aramani (waist ornament). Instead, the oracle holds a Pattu and Churika (a knife-like weapon). The murti (idol) is a swayambhu, meaning it is self-manifested and not man-made, and it faces east. It is believed that Ittiashan, known for treating diseases affecting children, took refuge in this temple after his death.
