This temple is on Kottarakara- Idakkidam- Nedumankavu road in Kottarakara. Legend says that while the Goddess was on her way, removing the causes of diseases and destroying evil, she searched for a place to rest. Seeing a beautiful hill covered with Thechi flowers (Ixora), she decided to rest there. The Goddess revealed her presence to a Brahmin living in that locality. A temple was built and the goddess was consecrated there. As the Goddess had found the place suitable for resting for some time, the place came to be known as Idakkidam. As the Goddess had been attracted by the Thechi flowers on the hill and
more the temple was built there, it came to be known as Thechkkunnath Mahadevi temple.
