Sree Irumkulangara Bhagavathy Temple

History

Sree Irumkulangara Durga Bhagavathi Temple is one of the most ancient temples in Kerala. Its name is derived from its location on the banks of two ponds, with "irum" meaning two and "kulam" meaning pond. The temple is believed to have a historical connection with the renowned Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. In ancient times, priests from the Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple are said to have travelled to Irumkulangara by country boats to perform poojas and rituals.
