This is believed to be one of the Siva temples, consecrated by Lord Parasurama and so is very ancient in origin. It is situated at Uzhavoor in Ramapuram of Kottayam district. During the time of the royal rulers, it was under their control. During that time, it was a rich temple with a gold-covered flag post. During the invasion by the army of Tippu Sultan, the gold and riches were looted. The priest of the temple kept the idol covered with his body to keep it safe. But he was hacked to death and the idol also got mutilated. When the temple was renovated the
more idol was covered with a golaka (a replica of the Lord made of silver or gold). The temple was renovated after astrological consultation in 2017. A new Goloka made of a special mixture of 5 metals was made. The priest who had lost his life while trying to save the idol was also consecrated in the temple premises.
