Mayyanad Sree Bhuvaneswaridevi
Temple, dedicated to the deity Bhuvaneswaridevi, has a legacy that traces back
to the 18th century. According to tradition, fabric merchants introduced the
concept of Bhuvaneswaridevi during that era, venerating her as their
'Aradhanamoorthy.' Initially, the temple was a simple Kavu (sacred grove), and
this heritage was later entrusted to the reputable Konnayil family in Mayyanad,
Kollam. The present temple was constructed through the combined efforts of
astrologer Edavattom Parameswaramenon and the temple committee, after prolonged
endeavours. The rituals for the re-establishment of the idol (punaprathishta)
were conducted by Thanthri Brahmasri Govindan Namboothiri of Horakkatt Illam.
