This temple is at a distance of 24 km southwest of Thrissur. The temple is believed to be many centuries old. The Goddess in the sanctum faces the east. The history of the temple was revealed at an astrological consultation held in 1983. According to that, it is connected with a Brahmin family that lived near a Devi temple at Katathanadu almost 600 years ago. One of the members of this family was a man of great learning, an expert in the use of weapons and a great devotee of the Goddess. He was considered equal to the King. But when there was a difference of
more opinion between this man and the local chieftain, he left the place and came to live near Ernakulam. A branch of his family had settled at Tahlikulam near the place where the temple exists today. The temple was built at that time, about 350 years ago. A complete renovation of that temple was made in 1998 and additions were made in 2007.
