This ancient temple has undergone renovations at various stages. In 1973, the local devotees formed a committee to renovate the temple and reconstructed the temple. In 1978-80 the two temples of Dharma Shastra and Malikapurathamma,2km away from this temple, which had been dilapidated, were reconstructed. The idol was also re-consecrated during this time. In 1998 there was another reconstruction and re-consecration. The temple is now under the Cochin Devaswom Board.
