This temple is situated at Kumbalam in Ernakulam District. According to historians, this temple is more than 1500 years old. The deity worshipped here is Balakrishna or Little Krishna. The temple is considered important for children. The idol is almost 6 feet tall from the base and faces east. When the royal family, Amman Thampuran Kovilakam, managed the temple directly, there was the practice of offering milk pudding, considered the favourite of the deity. This would then be distributed among the devotees, especially the children. This offering then came to be performed by those desirous of having children. The same offering is made for the welfare more of the children also. The offering which had been discontinued for a long time has now been revived with the support of the Temple Advisory Committee. There is also the practice of applying the oil anointed on the idol on the body of children to prevent skin diseases.
