Memmury BharathaSwamy Temple, situated in Ernakulam district, Kerala, is dedicated to Bharata, the brother of Lord Rama from the epic Ramayana. According to legend, Bharata and Shatrughna ventured into the forest in search of Lord Rama after he departed from Ayodhya for exile. During their quest, Bharata reached Bharathapilli, where he was warmly welcomed by the locals, who revered him as their leader and king.
