According to legend, the Manjummel Sree Krishna Swamy Temple is one of the 108 Lord Mahavishnu temples created by Lord Parashurama. In ancient times, a vast area of Manjummel belonged to the temple. The deity, Sree Krishna, is renowned for bestowing blessings upon his worshipers. According to 'Roopamandana' (the study of sculptures), there are 24 'Vigraha Lakshanas' (types and styles of sculptures). The Mahavishnu Vigraha at the Manjummel Sree Krishna Swamy Temple, with its Shanku, Chakra, Gadha, and Pankaja, represents Lord Madhava, similar to Lord Guruvayoorappan. This sculpture is one of the rarest depictions of Lord Mahavishnu, facing west.
