Vettiyar Palliyarackavu Devi Temple stands
proudly in Vettiyar, situated along the Kochalummoodu – Pandalam road in the
Alappuzha district of Kerala. Dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathy, this temple
embodies the quintessential architectural style of Kerala. The temple exudes a serene ambience featuring a traditional layout with a chathura sreekovil, namaskara mandapam, chuttambalam, kodimaram, and shrines of upa devatas.
During the ezhunnallathu ceremony, Goddess Devi graciously visits each
Kettukazhcha on the Jeevatha, inviting her father, Kandakalankavu Devan, to
join the festivities. Together, they witness the grandeur of the Kettukazhcha
from the temple premises. Later, Goddess Devi returns to the Sreekovil for the
Deeparadhana ritual. As night falls,
more
she emerges again to witness
Kalamezhuthum Pattu, Velakali, and the illumination of lamps, receiving Valiyakanikka
and Kaineettapara at the eastern part of the temple. The temple concludes its
ceremonies with the Gurusi performed in the temple pond, marking the closure of
its sacred doors for the day.
