Gosala Krishna Temple, located in Akathethara Grama Panchayath of Palakkad District, is the only Sreekrishna temple in the area. It has a rich history and was originally owned by the Kuttipulikkalidam family, a branch of the rulers of Palakkattussery. Centuries ago, this family installed the idol of Lord Krishna in the form of Balagopala, worshipping him as their family deity for the longevity of their members. On July 13, 2005, the Kuttipulikkalidam family transferred ownership of the temple and all its assets to a public trust, now known as the "Sreekrishna Seva Trust." The trust's current committee conducted an Ashtamangala Deva Prasna, a traditional ritual to discern
more the deity's will, in front of the idol. The ritual revealed that separate Sreekovils (sanctums) should be constructed for Lord Krishna and the Upadevas (subsidiary deities).
