This temple is east of Peechingappara
Canal Junction on Puthencruz - Karimugal road. According to legends it belonged to the Komana illam. When attempts were made to renovate the
temple in 1981, the sanctum and the surrounding area were covered by
overgrowth. When this was cleared, the remains of the rest of the structure
like the chuttambalam, gopuram and
the surrounding wall were seen. Those remains speak of the antiquity of the
temple. It is believed that the name of the place Kaaninadu indicates that it

tufted hair, holding Amrutha kalasham in one hand, was made in panchaloha and consecrated facing the
west. In 2005, the land was bought and the rest of the temple's structures were constructed. The sacred Eighteen steps were made in black stone. This work
was completed in eighteen days.
