Poranoor is an agricultural village in Neyyattinkara Thaluk. In ancient times, there were many kalaris, and schools, to train soldiers for the King of Travancore at this place. A few Vishnu devotees of this place used to go to the houses here and sing bhajans during the Mandalam period from the 1st of Vrichikam. The idol of Sree Krishna that they took with them to each of the houses used to be kept for the night in the place where the temple stands today. As years passed an ant hill in the shape of Sree Krishna with the flute in hand was formed here.
more Though some people destroyed it many times, it came up again. So astrological consultations were performed and Sree Krishna was found there. So, they constructed a temple there and a terracotta idol of Sree Krishna was placed there. Anyone could perform poojas at the Poranoor Bhajana Madom. Later it was found to have gained power and a stone idol was consecrated there and poojas in the prescribed form were performed. Ganapathy and Nagas were consecrated as subordinate deities. In 1986 a trust was formed for the management of the temple. As it was found that Goddess Bhadrakali had been present at that place before, a temple for the Goddess has also been made.
