Poranghotur Subramania Temple

History

Poranghotur Sree Subramania temple is situated on the right Bank of Cherupuzha River in Koduvalli Grama Panchayath in Kozhikode District of Kerala State. It is 28 km North East of Kozhikode (Calicut) city and is accessible by good motorable road. The main temple dedicated to Lord Subrahmania (Muruga) is Flanked on either side by small temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu on the left side and Lord Siva on the right side.  The Sanctum Sanctorums of the main temple and the Siva Temple are circular in the shape.  These are separate temples even-though they are close to the main temple.  It more is believed that the idol of Lord Subrahmania was installed by none other than Sage Parasurama.  It is more than 1.20 meter in height and is fixed on a high pedestal. The main temple is a sufficiently big one.  The circumference of the Sanctum Sanctorum is 20.35 M. and it has a Mandapam in front of it.
