This temple is at Areekode, Malappuram. It is believed to be one of the Vishnu temples consecrated by Lord Parasuama. It is more than 2500 years old. After some time, the temple management was vested in ten Namboothiri families of the locality. After that, the place came to be known as Puthalam. After some time, they all left the place and the temple came to be under the Chovvara Pisharath family. As one of them did without any children, there was nobody to look after the temple. The temple was plundered and the structure was destroyed. A lot of the landed property was also lost.
more As it lay overgrown and neglected some local people decided to revive the temple. Only through their enthusiasm was the sanctum built and the idol recovered from the well consecrated there. This was in July 1969. From that year onwards Bhajans were held during the Mandala period. Later in 1975 after astrological consultations, the temple was rebuilt. The man deity is Narasimhamoorthy in the gentle form as the Lord blessed Prahlada. Ganapathy, Bhagavathy and Ayyappa are the subordinate deities.
