The history of Ezhamkulam Devi Temple spans more than 800 years, believed to be another dwelling place of the Goddess known as Kodungalloor Devi. Legend has it that a woman from the Parakode Avaruvelil Kuzhivelil family visited the Kodungaloor temple with her husband for a puja. However, upon completing the rituals, she couldn't find her husband. Distressed, she prayed to the goddess for assistance. Suddenly, a radiant old woman appeared, offering not only comfort but also accompanying her home. Upon reaching Ezhamkulam, they rested by the paddy fields before proceeding to her family home, 'Padinjerekkara'. Strangely, the old woman disappeared upon entering the gate, leaving the family
more searching in vain. Through Deva Prashnam, it was confirmed that the old woman was indeed Kodungalloor Devi. The Avaruvelil family then decided to establish a temple for Devi near the paddy fields where they rested, wasting no time in constructing a temple to honour the Goddess.
