Vaduthala Sree Ganapathy Temple has a rich history dating back around 1500 years. During a period of persecution by the Portuguese, a group of Vaishyas migrated to Kerala from Maharashtra seeking refuge. They received assistance from both the Zamorin and the King of Cochin. Upon settling in Vaduthala, Kochi, they established a temple and consecrated an idol of Lord Ganapathy that they had brought with them. This idol holds a unique significance, with the trunk of Lord Ganapathy turned to the left and holding a pot adorned with precious stones. The festival of Chathurthi holds particular importance in this temple. Initially, only members of the Vaishya community
more were allowed entry, but today, all devotees are welcomed, symbolizing the temple's inclusive ethos and flourishing prosperity.
