Thuluvannur Mahavishnu Temple, situated in ancient Kerala, believed to have been created by Lord Parasurama, extended from Kanyakumari to Gokarnam and was divided into 64 Gramas, 32 Malayala Gramas and 32 Tulu Gramas. Each Grama had a Gramakshethra, with Payyanur marking the conclusion of Malayala Gramas and the Sree Subrahmanya Temple serving as the Gramakshethra of Payyanur. Adjacent to Payyanur was Thuluvannur, the first Tulu Grama, with the Thuluvannur Mahavishnu Temple being its Gramakshethra. Unfortunately, the Thulu Brahmins, caretakers of the temple, had to depart for the northern region, leaving the temple abandoned and neglected. Consequently, the temple remained deserted for an extended period without proper care. However,
more over time, miraculous events unfolded, leading to the restoration and revival of the temple to its present state.
