History

Thrikkangode Randumoorthy Temple, located in the Palakkad district, houses two principal deities within its inner sanctum Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. Renowned for its exquisite wood carvings and sculptures, the Sree Randu Moorthy Temple is believed to be one of the sacred sites established by Lord Parasurama in Kerala. This ancient temple, however, fell into obscurity and remained hidden within the forest for countless centuries until it was rediscovered by two Aadivasis named Chakki and Chaathan. Legend has it that while these individuals were cutting tree barks with their sickles, they inadvertently struck the idols, causing them to bleed. Overwhelmed with fear, they fled the scene. more Subsequently, upon learning of this miraculous event, the local community cleared the area and unearthed the two idols along with a nearby well. Astrologers confirmed that the discovered idols were representations of Shiva and Vishnu, prompting the construction of a temple at the site to honour them. Thus, the Thrikkangode Randumoorthy Temple stands as a testament to this divine revelation and continues to be revered by devotees for its spiritual significance. This temple is believed to be one of the temples installed by Lord Parasuraman in Kerala. This ancient temple later withered away and was covered by forest for centuries together until it was found by two Aadivasis Chakki and Chaathan. The story is that when they were cutting tree bark with their sickles they hit upon the idols and it started bleeding. Scared, they fled. When the locals came to know about this they cleared the area and found the two idols with a well by their side. Astrologers found out that these were of Shiva and Vishnu and therefore a temple was erected there.
