Aniyoor Sree Durga Bhagavathy Temple holds significance as one of the 108 Durgalayas established by Lord Parasurama. Referred to as "Anikkadu" in the Durgalaya nama stotra, Aniyoor was formerly known as Anikusavoor, a village where darbha grass grows in a structured manner. The presiding deity of this temple is Bala Durga. A unique ritual called "Chenkaal Thozheel" involves the worship of children under one year old to Devi. The temple gained prominence as it is believed to be the place where Sree Narayana Guru Swamikal met Chattambi Swamikkal. As is customary in Devi temples, Tuesdays and Fridays hold special significance here with dedicated poojas. The festival spans
more eight days during the Karthika month of Medam. Additionally, Kalamezhuthu Paattu rituals occur during Mandalam time, and Thrikarthika festivities are observed in Vrichikam-Medam. The temple celebrates its rituals and festivals with fervour, emphasizing the spiritual importance of devotion to Devi.
