Karimpuzha Sreeramaswamy Temple stands as a revered sanctuary in the serene landscape of Ottapalam Taluk, Palakkad district, overlooking the tranquil Kunthipuzha River. This sacred haven houses an exceptional Sreerama idol, portraying Lord Rama in a perpetual state of sacrifice on the Sarayu River's shores before his celestial journey. Accompanying him in eternal loyalty is his devoted companion, Hanuman. The primary deity, Sree Ramaswamy, sits facing west, surrounded by other deities including Ganapathy, Shivan, Bhagavathy, Chamravattath Ayyappan, and Shasthavu. Hanuman's divine presence near the Thidappalli's northern side has transformed the temple into Dakshina Ayodhya or Southern Ayodhya. The temple's roots delve into antiquity, tracing back to Rishi's intense penance
more near the Sree Rama deity, marking the area as Arattukadavu Para. An enduring lamp by a banyan tree on the river's northern side pays homage to this ancient sage. The temple's historical tapestry intertwines with the Calicut Zamorin era (AD 700-1500). During this epoch, the Zamorin, in his quest for territorial expansion, seized Karimpuzha and appointed his brother Earalppad as the provincial ruler. Karimpuzha's strategic significance fueled the Zamorin's military campaigns, solidifying its importance in his expanding empire. During political invasions, Karimpuzha remained a fertile ground for the Zamorin's territorial ambitions. Around AD 1000, as the Zamorin shifted focus to revitalize Karimpuzha, Earalppad erected a majestic Ettukettu palace on the riverbanks and initiated the temple's reconstruction. The temple's existence predates the Zamorin's conquest, attesting to its ancient roots. Noteworthy is the annual holy festival during the renovation, marked by the sacred reorientation of the deity's face on the 3rd Thursday between mid-November and mid-December. Adjacent to Earalppad's palace, the family deity Sree Bhagavathy resides in Bhagavathy Kottil, while Cherulli Achan Madam, the army chieftain's abode, stands to the south of the temple, adding layers to the historical legacy of Karimpuzha Sriramaswamy Temple.
