Thrikulasekharapuram Sree Krishna Swami Temple, also known as Kulasekharapuram Sri Krishna temple, is situated 5 km to the south of the Kodungallur Bhagavathy temple. Dedicated to Sri Krishna Bhagavan, it holds significance as potentially the first Vaishnava temple in ancient Kerala. Constructed around 800 AD by Kulasekara Alwar, one of the twelve Vaishnavite Alvars, the temple is renowned for the famous Mukundamala composed by Kulasekara Alwar, offering prayers to Sri Krishna Bhagavan worshipped at Kulasekharapuram. Faced with the absence of a Vishnu temple in the region, Kulasekara Alwar took the initiative to build one. He commissioned a reputed sculptor to carve the murti of Sri Krishna, and
more upon completion, he entrusted the installation to the renowned tantri, Thamarassery Mykattu Namboothiri.
