It is generally believed that
Devi temples where the sanctum faces the north are the most ancient in India.
Among such temples in Kerala are the famous Devi temples at Kodungaloor,
Angadipuram and Thirumandhaam kunnu. Alumthazathth Bhagavathy temple at
Anthikad in Thrissur district is also one such famous temple. This ancient
temple had been ruined with time and now plans are afoot to
rebuild it.
