Chammanadu Bhagavathy Temple in Alappuzha is dedicated to Ettuveetil Karthakanmar. The Kaimalmar, formerly known as eight distinct families Alakkodu, Kovilakathu, Puthuparambathu, Velikkakathu, Pulikkal, Kuzhuveli, Puthanveli, and Kunnath Parambu had a significant historical presence as rulers of the Karapuram region under the Kochi kings. Legend has it that Ettuveetil Kaimalmar brought Chammanad Bhagavathy from Kodungallur through a sacred ritual known as "Avahichu Kondu Varika." Another belief suggests that during a journey, a Velichappadu accompanying Goddess Bhadrakali, along with the Kaimalmar, forcefully consecrated her at this sacred site.
