This temple is situated at Kottepadam road near Aryanpave in Mannarghat Thaluk in Palaghat district. This temple had been under the direct control of the Zamorin of Kozhikode. The place where the temple stands today was a dense forest in ancient times. An ascetic started doing penance here to bring peace to the area. In the end, the Goddess appeared before him and a self-originated stone idol appeared in that place. A Brahmin staying nearby had a dream in which the Goddess appeared before him. He saw the idol in that place and informed the Zamorin about it. The temple was built around 500 years ago
more and the Goddess in the form of Mahishasuramardini was consecrated there. The temple was well looked after by the Zamorin. The temple was destroyed during the raid by Tippu Sultan and later rebuilt.
