This temple is at Mattanoor Chalayi in Kannur district. Maha Vishnu is consecrated as Narasimha Moorthy. Centuries ago, many ascetics used to live here engaged in penance. People came to worship the Lord at the Parnashala (huts of the ascetics) and the place later came to be known as Chalayil. Narasimha Moorthy is consecrated facing the east. Devotees believe that if they come with their families to worship the Lord here, all fears will be removed from their minds. The Rakshas is believed to be consecrated as a couple and naivedyam is offered here every day. Many people come here to resolve problems in the
more family. The Kalloor Kannabeth Illam managed the temple but in 1980 it was taken over by a committee.
