Puliyannoor Mahadeva Temple is situated in the village of Mutholi, approximately 3 km from Pala, within the Kottayam district of Kerala. Puliyannoor is recognized as one of the 64 Brahmin villages established by Parshuram, an avatar of Vishnu. This temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, stands among the oldest Shiva temples in Kerala, with its construction believed to date back to the 8th century CE. According to local lore, the temple was built by the Vaishya community, specifically Chonar Chettikal, under the leadership of Chatham Palakkal Chonaru Chettiar.
