Sree Lakshmi Narasimha Temple Vadakara

History

Sree Lakshmi Narasimha Moorthy Temple, located in Vadakara Taluk, Kozhikode District, Kerala, holds a rich history dating back approximately 400 years. Initially overseen by the Thangal family, an esteemed lineage of that era, the temple faced challenges over time due to family partition and subsequent financial difficulties. The original Sreekovil and other structures suffered extensive damage, leading to a prolonged period without rituals or pujas. In 1974, Sri Rayaroth Raman Nair, a devout farmer, took it upon himself to revitalize the temple following a "Swarnaprasnam." The divine intervention revealed a potent presence of Lord Narasimha Moorthy, signalling the necessity of renovation and resumption of pujas for the local more community's well-being. Raman Nair generously funded the comprehensive restoration of the temple, including the construction of a two-storeyed Kalyana Mandapam, where eminent Acharyas conducted bhagavatha sapthaham. Upon completion, the management of the temple and its land was entrusted to a dedicated trustee composed of Sri Raman Nair and his children. In 1992, after Sri Raman Nair's passing, his children, Retd. Justice R Baskaran, R Balakrishnan, a Company Executive, and R. Sulochana, a School Teacher, continued as trustees. In 2014, another Swarnaprasnam revealed vasthu doshas in the temple's construction, prompting a comprehensive renovation. A new temple emerged, and regular pujas resumed under the oversight of the private trustees mentioned above. Sree Lakshmi Narasimha Moorthy Temple is a testament to community devotion and the commitment of its custodians to maintain its sanctity and spiritual significance.
