Sree Venugopala Krishna Swami Temple has its roots in the migration of Gaud Saraswat Brahmins (GSBs) to Cochin and its neighbouring suburbs and villages. In the village of Chennamangalam, where some families settled, the absence of a place of worship prompted them to trek to the nearest temple at North Paravur for their spiritual needs. In response to this challenge, they rallied together under the leadership of Chennoth Parambil Sri Dasa Prabhu to establish their temple. Approaching Paliath Valiyachan of the Paliyam Swaroopam for assistance, they were generously granted land for the temple's construction. With contributions from the local community, the temple took shape, and the consecration (Pratishta)
more occurred on April 30, 1900. Recognizing the need for sustainable financial support, twelve community members, led by Chennoth Parambil Ramachandra Prabhu, initiated a Chitty in 1920. Profits generated from this initiative were utilized to acquire additional land for the temple, ensuring its day-to-day expenses were met. In 1956, the offspring of Chennoth parambil Sri Dasa Prabhu established an Endowment Trust in his honour, contributing 10 acres of land and Rs. 65,000 to the temple. This trust played a crucial role in further developments, including the construction of facilities like Agrasala and Anapandal. The temple underwent a renovation in 1995, and the sanctum sanctorum (Srikovil) was adorned with a Copperplate covering, adding to its aesthetic and structural enhancements.
