Sree Andaloor Kavu boasts diverse narratives about its origin and historical background, with its primary deities intricately tied to the tales of the Ramayana. The central deity, Daivathar, is revered as Sri Rama. One historical account suggests the existence of four other Daiavathars in neighboring places Paduvilayi, Maavilayi, and Kappad daiavathars. These male siblings faced a curse from the elder Kappad daivathar, rendering them speechless. An alternative narrative revolves around Andalur Nayanar, a well-known and highly regarded local ruler who met betrayal and demise at the hands of another regional leader. Subsequently, people began venerating him as Andalur Daivathar. Further variations of the story link Cheraman Perumal and
more Sree Parasu Raman to this sacred site. The temple features idols represented as "Theyyams," with the prevailing myth highlighting the worship of major deities Lord Rama, Lakshmana, and Hanuman. Notably, there are Theyyams embodying characters such as Bali and Sugreevan. A distinctive aspect of the temple's rituals is the residents' strong identification as warriors of Sri Rama during the annual festival season.
