Sree Kannan Thrikovil Temple

History

Sree Kannan Thrikovil Temple has a history dating back approximately 200 years. Originally, there was a Krishna temple situated near the Kannankukangara Siva temple, owned by a Brahmin. An adjacent pond had also been constructed. However, due to the disapproval of the King, the temple owners decided to vacate the premises. The associated Oottupura, which had been providing meals, ceased its operations following the departure of the owners. The oldest member of the Nedumparambil mana took charge, bringing the temple idol to their Illam and consecrating it facing west. Initially worshipped as Narasimha, subsequent astrological consultations revealed that the divine figure to be venerated was that more of a youthful Krishna adorned with weapons. Presently, the temple thrives with the support and cooperation of local devotees.
