This is many centuries old. The temple formerly belonged to a family of Namboothiris who had to flee the place during the raid by the forces of Tippu Sultan. Years later, people who came to occupy that land found the idol lying under a tree, consecrated it on a platform, and performed pujas every month. In 1990 a committee of the local people was formed and a trust was registered. It is under the trust that the present temple was constructed. Ezhumavil E.G. Krishnan Namboothiripad is the main priest while Pinaykkamattam Narayanan Namboothiri is the Thanthri.
