This temple is at Chelanoor in Kozhikodu. This temple originally had the consecration of Lord Shastha with his consorts. A Namboothiri lady once suffered from an incurable disease. She came to the Shastha temple and prayed ardently to Sree Dhanwanthari Moorthy for the cure. The Lord was pleased and she was cured. So, the consecration of Dhanwanthari Moorthy was made in a separate sanctum. Lord Dhanwanthari is an incarnation of Maha Vishnu who came up with a pot of Amrut when the Devas and Asuras churned the Milky Ocean. Dhanwanthari is worshipped by those who suffer from diseases and those who practice medicine. Both Lord Shastha and
more Lord Dhanwanthari are worshipped with equal importance here. The temple was managed by a Nair family named Chaliyedath Palappillil. Later when the temple deteriorated a renovation was done in 1977. Now the temple is managed by a committee of the local people.
