There is much that is unique about the temple. The temple is surrounded by rocks and is on a lower level. On a rock above the temple there is a small pond. Though it looks small, it is deep up to the height of four men and the water never dries up even at the height of summer. The older generation of locals say that when there was the season of high yield of fish in the sea, there used to be some sea fish in this pond on top of the rock too. It is believed that the temple had been destroyed more during the invasion by Tippu Sultan. The place was covered with wild growth and infested by many wild animals and reptiles. The temple has been restored to its original glory within the last few years.
