This ancient temple is at Ramanattukara in Kozhikode. The place is believed to have got this name as it is closely associated with Parasurama. After killing the Kshathriyas 21 times, Parasurama offered obeisance to the departed ancestors, yaga and penance at this place. As he performed rituals for atonement (parihaaram in Malayalam) for sins at the place where the temple stands today, the place came to be had the name of Pariharapuram. As he was doing penance here, he got a vision of Lord Subrahmanya. He built a temple there and performed the consecration. It is believed to be more than 2000 years old. There is
more an inscription in the temple which has not yet been deciphered. The sanctum is believed to have been rebuilt in the tenth century during the reign of the Chera Kings.
