This ancient temple is at Pathanapuram taluk in Kollam district. Legend celebrates this temple as the one built by Sage Parasurama to protect Keralam. It is one of the Shastha temples situated in forest areas. Lord Shastha is consecrated here as a householder with his wives Poorna and Pushkala. It is believed that the consecration was on 12th Makaram 1106 of the Kolla varshm. The Lord is believed to bless devotees by removing the poison that has entered the body. The medicine for snake bite is the sandalwood paste that is kept in the palm of the idol of Lord Shastha. This is one of more the very rare places where the temple will be opened after it has been closed after the last puja at night if any supplicant appeals by ringing the bell at the eastern gate to be treated for snake bite.
