Sree Vaderi Shiva Temple,
dedicated to Lord Shiva, is home to a revered Shivalingam believed to have been
worshipped by King Banasura in the bamboo forest of Vaderi in ancient times.
Discovered in 1980 by a villager amidst the shrubbery, the Shivalingam was
subsequently installed in the temple. With roots dating back at least 900 years,
Sree Vaderi Siva Temple stands as one of the foremost "Sree Parama
Shiva" temples in Wayanad. Situated in the village of Vaderi, just half a
kilometer from Mananthavady town and 24 kilometers from Panamaram (via
Valliyurkkavu, Koyilery), this sacred site adds to the spiritual richness of
Wayanad district.
