History

Sree Seetharamaswamy Temple, an integral part of the temple town of Thrissur, was established on June 11, 1899, and is situated 6 degrees Northwest of the formidable Vadakkunnathan Temple. The temple, dedicated to Lord Seetharaman, features a remarkable 'Srikovil' with a stunning 'Gajaprashta' spire, a distinctive architectural element not commonly found in Kerala temples. The main sanctum houses the idol of Sita Rama facing west, while other deities such as Hanuman, Lakshmana, Ganapati, Sri Parvati, Shiva, Subrahmanya, Navagraha, and Dharmashasta have separate shrines within the temple premises.
