Uma Maheswara Temple Nooranad

History

Umamaheswara Temple, located in Alleppey, is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi. Positioned approximately 100 meters north of the Thazhakara Overbridge in Mavelikkara, within the Alleppey district, this sacred site owes its existence to the diligent efforts, aspirations, and blessings of the predecessors of the Veera family. The consecration of the divine idol took place on April 25, 1966, following an angelic prediction, symbolizing the culmination of flawless traditional rituals. The Veerashiva family, with its considerable size, and divine blessings played a crucial role in this event. The unique feature of this temple in Kerala lies in its sanctum sanctorum, where Goddess Parvathi Devi is portrayed meditating more alongside Lord Shiva in a single idol, facing the same direction. In addition to Parvathi and Shiva, the temple houses other presiding deities such as Yogeswaran, Nagaraja, and Nagayakshi, each bestowing their blessings upon the devotees. The local villagers firmly believe that the divine sanctum sanctorum has the power to fulfil the aspirations of all devotees and followers of various religious beliefs.
