History

Chakkamkulangara Shiva Temple in Thripunithura is among the 108 Siva Temples in Kerala, consecrated by Sage Parasurama. Lord Siva and Devi Parvathy are enshrined within its sacred walls. Initially embodying the form of Mrithyunjaya, Siva is now revered as the Swayamvara Moorthy. This ancient temple, constructed in the Dravidian architectural style, prevalent in Kerala, boasts a history spanning over a thousand years. Within the temple complex, a unique feature is the Navagraha temple, where daily poojas are conducted a rarity in Kerala. The Siva temple falls under the jurisdiction of the Kochin more Devaswom Board, while the Navagraha temple is administered by the Urayma Devaswom.
