This is one of the 108 famous Shastha temples of Kerala and is situated at Annanadu in Karukutty of Thrissur district. Shastha is imagined as a boy in this consecration. The deity, seen as seated in meditation in an ancient square sanctum faces the east. Ganapathy, Bhagavathy, Yakshi, Manikandan, Veerabhadran, Nagas and Navagrahas are also consecrated here. The temple was under the ownership of Konnoor Padanairs till about one and half centuries. In 1017 Malayalam Era the temple and some land were gifted to the Thanthrik family of Nedumbaa Mana. The Namboothiri of that Mana rebuilt the temple with the help of the king of more Cochin. When this family found it difficult to carry on the management of the temple, it was handed over to the priests. When they too found it difficult to manage the rituals of the temple with the income from the offerings, Neelakanta Iyer, a merchant from Thripunithura took over the temple. When he suffered some loses in his business, some Nairs of the area took over the management in 1118 Malayalam era. Now it is under the Annanadu Nair Karayogam. In the bygone days this temple was also one of the participants in the Aaraattupuzha pooram and Peruvanam pooram.
