Legend has it that, in ancient times, a Kurava woman was harvesting grass when her sickle accidentally struck a sacred stone, causing it to bleed. This remarkable event led to the construction of the Chunakkara Temple, also known as Chunakkara Thiruvairoor Mahadevar Temple, on the advice of Ayroor Thamburan, the loyal bodyguard of the Kayamkulam king. The temple features a circular sanctum made of granite with intricately carved wooden walls adorned with beautiful sculptures. At the temple's entrance, you'll find imposing dwarapalaka murtis. This sacred place is situated 2.5 kilometers from Charummoodu along the Kayamkulam–Punalur road in the Alappuzha district of Kerala.
