This is an ancient Siva temple situated at Kanayanuur, near the famous Chottanikkara Devi temple. It was here that Yakshiyamma, who has been described in the legends connected with the Chottanikkara Devi temple, was consecrated in the form of Devi as a subordinate deity. According to available documents the temple is believed to be more than one thousand wo hundred years old. This is the only temple where Yakshiyamma, killed by Chottanikkara Bhagavathy and raised to the group of devas, has been consecrated. The original owners of the Chottanikkara devi temple, the Thirumeni of the Pallippurathu mana gave the temple to the Maharaja of Kochi more at his request. The King engaged the same family to manage the affairs of the temple. This is one of the temples under the management of the Pallippurathu mana.
