Shankaramkulangara Temple, located in Poonkunnam, Thrissur, is dedicated to Goddess Durga, who faces the east. According to legend, the Devi was brought to this temple by the eldest member of the Mangatt family after years of intense worship at Mookambika. Even to this day, during the Pathamudayam festival, there is a ceremonial inquiry about the presence of the Mangatt Nair. Historically, the temple was under the ownership of the Mangatt family, who served as the local rulers. Presently, it is administered by a local committee.
