The Thripunithura Sree Rama Temple is situated in Thripunithura, Ernakulam district, Kerala. This sacred shrine is dedicated to Lord Sree Rama. The Lord Hanuman worshipped in the temple holds great significance. It is maintained by the GSB community. The sub deities honoured in the temple include Ganapathy, Durga, Venkatachalapathy and Nagaraja. During a visit to Thripunithura, Sri Raghavendra Tirtha stayed with the Varapuzha family for some days. Upon leaving, satisfied with the family's hospitality, he blessed its members and gifted them the Sree Rama Moorthi idol that he personally worshipped. The Varapuzha family installed the Sree Rama Moorthi idol in a small temple they built on their
more premises. Subsequently, the Panakkal family of Thripunithura (believed to be from the same lineage as the Swamiji) approached him and requested an idol for their family's worship. The Swamiji gave them the Bhagavatham, a Thaliyola (book made from leaves) he used, and blessed that the book would also carry the presence of the Lord. Around 1658 CE, the Varapuzha and Panakkal families dedicated the Sree Rama Idol and the Bhagavatham to the GSB community at Thripunithura for worship. A new temple was constructed on a piece of land donated by the Thamarassery Naicken family, where the Sree Rama Idol and the Bhagavatham were installed. The temple underwent renovation and puna-prathista (re-establishment of deities) in 1895 CE. The original Bhagavatham, kept in the Sreekovil in a Copper box, deteriorated completely. In 1979 CE, Sri Sudhindra Tirtha Swamiji blessed and provided a Ramayana book to replace it. During the annual festivals, the procession commences at the Varapuzha family's place, who generously donated the Rama Idol to the temple. The temple features various Vahanas, including a wooden Garuda Vahana, a silver Sesha Vahana, a silver palanquin, and an Airavata vahana.
